Privacy and cookies

This page explains what The Pursuit collects when you use this site, why, who else receives it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

The Pursuit is a trading name of Matthew Fowler, 5 Chequers Close, Buntingford, SG9 9TB. For anything on this page, email team@the-pursuit.club. The Pursuit team reads that inbox.

• Email sign-ups. If you sign up for updates, we keep your email address and a record of where you signed up: the page you used and, on an event page, that event's name and category. We record this so that what we send you is relevant to the event or page you signed up from.
• Contact messages. If you use the Contact us form, we keep your name, email address and message so that we can reply.
• Analytics, only if you accept cookies. Google Analytics records how the site is used: which pages are viewed and for how long, how far people scroll, which graphics are opened, which links they follow to other sites (including ENTER THIS EVENT, and on which event), when a form is sent (not what was typed in it), and files downloaded. It also records roughly where visitors are (country and city), the device and browser used, and which site or link brought them here. It does not give us your name or email address.

• Sign-ups: to email you about new events and platform news. The basis is your consent, given when you sign up.
• Contact messages: to answer you. The basis is our legitimate interest in replying to a message you chose to send.
• Analytics: to understand how people find and use the site, which events and information matter most to them, and where the site falls short, so it can be improved. The basis is your consent, given through the cookie banner.

We do not sell your information, and nothing is shared for advertising.

• Google Analytics sets cookies whose names begin with _ga. They are not set, and nothing is sent to Google, until you press Accept. Google Signals and advertising features are switched off.
• Your choice itself is stored in your browser so that the banner does not ask again. This is needed for the site to remember your choice, so it does not need consent.
• To change your choice at any time, use Cookie settings at the foot of every page. Choosing Decline stops Google Analytics and removes its cookies.

The site works the same whether you accept or decline.

• Webflow, which hosts this site and stores sign-ups and contact messages.
• Google, which provides Google Analytics.
• An email sending service, once we start sending updates. This page will name it before any email is sent.

Webflow and Google may process information in the United States. Where they do, the transfer relies on safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

• Email sign-ups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
• Contact messages: up to 12 months after the conversation ends.
• Analytics: Google Analytics keeps event data for 14 months, then deletes it.

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how it is used, or to receive a copy to take elsewhere. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time: unsubscribe from any email, or use Cookie settings. Email team@the-pursuit.club and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how The Pursuit has handled your information, email team@the-pursuit.club with "Data protection complaint" in the subject line. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it without undue delay, and tell you the outcome.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or 0303 123 1113.

If what we collect or who receives it changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
